Once upon a seedling…

Once the initial mayhem of COVID lockdown subsided in spring 2020, realising I wouldnt be able to purchase flowers from the local market, a seed began to plant itself in my head….all that space for vegetables could be shared with some home grown flowers! The flowers havnt so much as shared but taken over all space. My husband even comments about his surprise to find seedlings busy germinating not just on window sills but also in dark cupboards (they all have their own requirements).

After researching i began to realise if I wanted to do this properly and provide colour for many months I would need to get organised and plan months in advance. I started in gusto with biennials for the following spring which I have nurtured over winter in my make shift shelter between two garden sheds.

In the past 10 months I have come to realise just how much joy can be found in watching all those little seeds turn into something so simple and beautiful as a home grown bloom.
